"I loved the active, dynamic, real-time online
interaction that took place. Initially I was concerned that, since this is a
student-driven online event, not many people would take part in the Q&A
sessions, but all participants were eager to listen and give feedback on all of
the presentations. I was surprised by everyone’s enthusiasm. I also loved how I
could listen to research presentations from many different fields of study,
topics ranging from 3D printing microtissues to Twitter discourse analysis. It
was a great opportunity to learn about how (and through what kind of background
and procedure) research is conducted in other departments.
Thanks to this research symposium, I had a chance to reflect and view my research in a different perspective by thinking about the questions that other participants raised during my presentation. Additionally, I was inspired to explore other possibilities regarding my research. For example, without the comments that others gave me, I wouldn’t have been able to think about extending my research to a start-up. I wouldn’t have never realized that my research has the potential to enter the actual real-world market."
