Testimonial Essay _  Takuya Takahashi from Tokyo Institute of Technology

I have two reasons why I participated in this program.

First, I would like to try research program that is able to experience something that related to my interest. I have already tried to study abroad but it is super-short group work program, not research program. I want to know what research project is like, what the atmosphere of the lab is like.

Second, I want to know about Korean culture and people. I have never been to Korea, but I’m interested in Korean pop culture like K-POP. Thorough this program, I want to touch some Korean culture.

In my lab, I tried to do two things. One is practical project, that create new application. It can access from link below, so please refer it.

Another is read papers that related to my interest on HCI (human-computer-interaction). I read papers that is mainly published by Japanese Researcher in Tokyo because it will help me to find my future lab as master program. I focused on grasp paper’s outline so that I understand the field map on HCI. I created list that summarize papers.

I learned many things from lab activities. I communicated with lab members and discussed what I do after going back to Japan. They gave me lots of advice.

The best thing during this program is that I was able to develop in the warm atmosphere of the people in the lab and to think deeply about the guidelines for my future.

As noted above, I felt that this project had a significant impact on my future plan for postgraduate study. I have experienced a very positive and stimulating environment and have recognized that I need to study harder to be placed in a high level environment.
